Comms and Admin is focused on meaningful work, particularly the process of doing the task, not on hard deadlines or output. We get to choose which tasks we do, and can do the same tasks regularly if we prefer the routine, or try a variety of things. This work is meaningful for a number of reasons. It is important for Flourish House to operate, it gives us structure and routine, it feels helpful, it builds our confidence and it can lead us to try new things, within Flourish House and outside. There isn’t enough staff to complete all the work, so we all chip in and we find the more we put in, the more we get out. We support each other, with staff providing help and peer learning too.
Tasks include:
• managing the company finance and petty cash
• working on staff timesheets
• creating and distributing the Flourish Times
• checking stock levels and placing stationery orders
• updating the website and social media
• creating posters and promoting events
Members have voiced that a valuable part of C&A work is the feeling of “Getting a job done that needs to be done.” This unit helps us be part of a community together.
